About Community Transport

There are several Rural Community Transport Partnerships across Northern Ireland, most of whom are members of the Community Transport Association – see their website:  www.communitytransport-ni.com

DDAT operates vehicles under a section 10b permit system which allows us to provide a service to our members.
Therefore before you may use our community transport you must register as a member, there are two categories:

  • Individuals – any person aged 16 years or over living in the area of benefit and who subscribes to the objects of the Charity, and whose application for membership is approved by the Directors. (individual membership form coming soon)
  • Groups – any organisation active within the area of benefit, whether voluntary or statutory, which subscribes to the objects of the Charity, and whose application for membership is approved by the Directors. (group membership form coming soon)

Members may then book transport for any journey that falls within one or more of the following categories:

  • Education and training
  • Social welfare
  • Sports and recreation
  • Religion
  • Other activities of benefit to registered groups and individuals belonging to the community.

We are NOT permitted to carry passengers for hire and reward with a view to profit, or incidentally to an activity which is itself carried out with a view to profit.  However, Down Town Transport Ltd is able to.
